London: Britain is firming up plans to move in its elite SAS commandos into Pakistan in the event of a military coup, claims a report published in The Daily Express newspaper.
Quoting diplomatic sources, the paper claims that the commandos have been put on stand-by in Afghanistan where British troops are engaged in anti-Taliban operations.
UK plans to move them into Pakistan to evacuate British diplomats and nationals.
The paper also quotes sources as saying that the hardliners in Pakistan Army are becoming impatient with the country's continuing crisis and want faster solution to stamp out terrorism.
'There are more and more rumours that some people in the military view a military takeover as the best way to bring greater stability,' the report says.
Recently, the Americans had dismissed the prospect of an army takeover as the present weak civilian government suits them perfectly.
