HYDERABAD: Direct seller Tupperware India said it is aiming at increasing its customer base from the current 6 million to over 28 million by 2016. The company, which introduces six to seven new products every year, also said it would step up focus on tier II and III cities to increase its presence.
"It's a viral model and the idea is to reach out to more than 28 million homes over the next few years, say by 2016. We will be aggressive in expanding our presence in smaller towns and cities, which currently contribute over 30 per cent," said Asha Gupta, managing director of Tupperware India, which is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Tupperware.According to her, penetration into tier II and III locations will help address the issue of food storage besides empowering women. "The idea is being seeded at the global level. There is indeed a huge scope among the rural rich who are not connected to the mainstream," she explained.
