CHENNAI: They wear the same pants, the same shade of sunglasses and even the same suede shoes. On first meeting with the identical music-composer twins - K Arun and Anups S aka Twinz Tunes, it is evident that they not only look alike but they also talk alike. It gets to be a little difficult to understand them, given the fact that their words seem to flow at exactly the same time. “Oh, that’s just how it is,” laughs Arun, as he recalls, “Everything has somehow turned out the same - the number in our email ids, mobile number, even the first tune we composed for our debut as music directors in Maneesh Babu’s Puthu Mughangal Thevai.” Anups takes over from here. “Yes, we sat in different rooms trying to figure out a tune and when we got together to listen to our tunes (separately composed) - it turned out they were almost the same!” The 30-year-old identical twins from Thiruvananthapuram, who share a passion for music,  just got a boost of recognition online, with over 5,500 hits on youtube in less than a fortnight. This is a video for the song Karivizhi Sutri Parkum. It is a duet featuring Haricharan and Shwetha Mohan, and has been recorded as a behind-the-scenes video, similar to Kolaveri Di, in a fun, interactive format. Having waited for a break in films for the past seven years, the brothers have previously sung one song in the Mollywood film, One Way Ticket, starring Prithivaraj in the lead. So the jump from struggling artistes to music directors has been quite a quantum leap. Arun says, “All this would never have happened if our friend and producer S A Abhiman hadn’t believed in us and asked for us to be music directors for his film Puthu Mughangal Thevai.” Anups, who is the quieter twin, states, “We’ve worked on four songs in the film. It has been a great time for us jamming with musicians like Keith Peters (bass), Mandolin Srinivas and Thumba Raja (percussion).” Considering the various styles they have used for the movie’s soundtrack, do they have a favourite genre? “Oh, we love pop!” smiles Arun. “And Justin Bieber.”
