HYDERABAD: The national flag was set ablaze by miscreants at two places at Hayatnagar on the Independence Day on Monday.According to police, the flags were hoisted, one by a local youth association, Netaji Yuvajana Sangham, and the other at a school for mentally-retarded children in Hayatnagar village. “The flags were hoisted within a distance of a few yards,’’ Hayatnagar inspector B Bhaskar said. After the function in the morning, locals and youngsters stayed at the venue till the afternoon when they went home. “Around 2.30 pm, miscreants set fire to the coloured paper used to decorate the flag poles. The flame engulfed the flags,’’ the inspector said and ruled out any dispute between local youth and the organisers.
