New Delhi: Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor, known for his dancing skills, will pay a tribute to legendary actors Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor, who passed away this year, at the Zee Cine Awards 2012 to be held in Macau next month.
The event is scheduled to take place at The Venetian in Macau, Jan 21.
Shahid is excited to bring alive the aura of the iconic heroes, who entertained Hindi film fanatics for decades altogether.
"I'm grateful to Zee for having approached me with such an interesting proposition. It's a sheer privilege to pay homage to great men like Dev saab and Shammi ji. They are both exceptional and superlative talents who have made invaluable contributions to the world of Indian films," Shahid said in a press statement.
"If I can recreate even a fraction of their magic, I will consider it an accomplishment and a humble tribute to these luminaries," he added.
While Shammi, the 'Junglee', 'Professor' and 'Bluff Master' of Hindi cinema, died of prolonged illness Aug 14, the eternal, evergreen Dev Anand passed away Dec 4 following a cardiac arrest in London.
It will be interesting to see the songs that Shahid picks for his performance, considering both the yesteryear stars had some of Bollywood's best known classics to their credit.
The Zee Cine Awards, to be hosted by 'Don' Shah Rukh Khan and his 'Junglee billi', Priyanka Chopra, is expected to attract the who's who from Bollywood.
An aggressive worldwide marketing campaign is being launched by the channel to create a buzz about the event. The campaign will cut across outdoors, print, radio, on-air promotions and interactive contests, as well as the digital space.
