Mumbai: Romit Takle, Abhinav Manota, Venkat Gurav and T Nagendra entered the men's qualifying singles third round at the NSCI All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament that began at the Vallabhai Stadium here.
The four shuttlers had to put their best foot forward to clear their opening hurdles in their quest to make the 24-man main draw of the Rs. 5-lakh prize money tournament commencing on August 29.
While Manota of Punjab, Gurav of Railways and Nagendra of AP rallied after losing their opening games against their rivals, Maharashtra's Takle started strongly before faltering a bit and then recovering poise to cruise past his opponent.
