CUTTACK: The condition of the alleged Pipili gang-rape victim has begun showing signs of marginal improvement. She is being treated at SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) here. The girl was on Friday subjected to MRI test of the brain under anaesthesia. The reports would be available later in the night and evaluated by the high-level expert team comprising heads of superspeciality clinical disciplines. The future treatment protocol would be devised based on the MRI test results. The Superintendent of the SCBMCH Prof. DN Moharana on Friday submitted a status report on the condition of the victim. “She is semi-comatose and though critically sick, has shown slight improvement since hospitalisation at around 2.20 pm on January 11. The team of doctors along with nurses and other paramedical staff is continuously monitoring her condition,” he stated. Her treatment has been made free and the cost of the MRI test met from the Users’ Fee funds, the Superintendent submitted.HC TAKES NOTE: The Division Bench of Chief Justice V Gopalagowda and Justice SK Mishra of Orissa High Court on Friday took note of the submission and also directed for availing services of superspecialist doctors from outside the State with the cost being borne by the Government if situation so demands. The Bench also perused the report on the security arrangements made by the Commissionerate Police for protection of the victim girl. Cuttack DCP submitted that three women constables were posted at the Central ICU for round-the-clock vigil. The Court has directed the Superintendent to submit further status report on the girl on January 16. The investigating officer of the Crime Branch, probing the case, should also submit a report on the same date.
