BANGALORE: T John College recently organised a blood donation camp in association with Lions Club of Bangalore and Victoria Hospital, at the campus with an appeal that people should come forward for the service of humanity.The camp was a huge success and saw active participation from students, professors, faculty and management of T John College.In all 225 units of blood were collected on a single day.Dr George Easaw, principal, T John College said, “If the younger generation comes forward to give blood voluntarily, there will be no dearth of blood worldwide.” He further added that regular voluntary blood donations are vital for blood transfusion services.He applauded the efforts of the organisers in encouraging the youth and conducting the camp.Dr Thomas P John, chairman, T John Group of Institutions said, “A lot of our students participated in this blood donation camp which is an encouraging indicator of voluntarism and awareness.In today’s scenario, where the need for safe blood is steadily on the rise, the association and all donors are indeed serving the society in a way that deserves acknowledgement and appreciation.” One of the donors said, “When you donate blood for an unknown person, the artificial barriers of caste, creed, religion and languages are demolished. It is indeed a very fulfilling experience.”
