CHITRADURGA: Two teams of surveyors, in four batches, appointed by the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) have started survey of the mining areas in Chitradurga district from Thursday.Sources said that, the first team comprises officials from the Department of Mines and Geology, Forest and Revenue and the second team includes the members of the National Institute of Technology, Surathkal.The teams arrived at the district on Wednesday and got a bird’s-eye view of the areas that they were supposed to survey and started t h e work on Thursday morning.Survey teams have begun their work from Bheemasamudra village of the district, where they are surveying the mining leases of SESA Goa (A Narrain mines), BBH mines, John mines and Narahari mines.In the first phase they will fix the boundaries and then conduct an in-depth survey.After this they will prepare a report that will be submitted to the CEC team on its arrival in the district some time next week, said a reliable source.Member Secretary M K Jiwrajka and Mahendra Vyas visited the district and met with officials on their way to Bangalore.It may be recalled that the Apex court in its order had suspended mining and transportation of iron ore in Chitradurga and Tumkur districts following the recommendations of the CEC.
