Students trio held for knife attack

CHENNAI: Three Plus Two students have been arrested for allegedly attacking a 20-year old man with a knife at Kundrathur on Sunday.The boys, all aged 17, attacked Karthik of the same locality with a knife. Residents of Moondram Kattalai near Kundrathur, the trio belonged to the vocational group, majoring in agriculture, at a government HSS, said sub-inspector C Shakeela. Two days ago, Karthik and his uncle’s son Vinod were waiting at the bus stop, when Vinod’s girlfriend approached them. As the three were talking, the students, who were proceeding on a bike, stopped the vehicle and made lewd comments at the girl.An argument broke out between the two groups and the students threatened to attack Vinod and Karthik and rode away. On Sunday evening, Karthik was walking to a shop in the locality, when the three students spotted him.They stopped him and started an argument, which soon turned into a fistfight. Karthik tried to block the knife attack and got injured in his back and hands. Passersby chased the boys away and rushed Karthik to a government hospital.A complaint was filed at the Kundrathur police station and the boys were arrested at the local bus stand while returning from Kancheepuram, where they had fled after the incident.
