Sting In The Tail? UP's Vikas Dubey Claims Snake Bit Him 7 Times In 40 Days, But Experts Say...
Health department sources disclosed that their five-day inquiry has determined that only one of the seven alleged snake bites inflicted on Vikas Dubey was genuine.

The purported saga of Vikas Dubey, a resident of Fatehpur district, claiming to have been bitten by a snake seven times within 40 days has been shrouded in skepticism. A collaborative investigation by the forest department and health officials has unearthed startling revelations, contradicting Dubey’s assertions. Health department sources disclosed that their five-day inquiry has determined that only one of the seven alleged snake bites inflicted on Vikas Dubey was genuine. The remaining incidents, supposedly snake bites, have been deemed suspicious upon detailed examination.

Dr Jawaharlal, who treated Dubey, corroborated these findings in the investigation report, confirming that only one snake bite was verified. He further stated that anti-venom was administered four times during treatment. However, under interrogation, Dr Jawaharlal admitted uncertainty about the snake species responsible for the bite, raising further doubts about the treatment protocol.

The health department’s scrutiny intensified when inconsistencies emerged in Dr Jawaharlal’s account regarding the administration of anti-venom without precise knowledge of the snake type. Concurrently, the forest department’s investigation led by DFO Ramanuj Tripathi highlighted that no witnesses, besides Dubey himself, had encountered the alleged snakes at the purported attack sites.

Vikas Dubey, in his initial statements, asserted personal sightings of these snake encounters, alleging a pattern of regular bites occurring predominantly over weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). However, preliminary investigations suggest these claims warrant skepticism.

Vikas Dubey, a 24-year-old from Soura village under Malwa police station jurisdiction, has recently sought refuge with his family at the Mehandipur Balaji temple, guided by spiritual advice to mitigate perceived astrological snake-related afflictions. Dubey claims to have been bitten by a snake seven times within 40 days.

The case garnered attention after each alleged bite incident was followed by medical treatment, including anti-venom injections administered at Ram Sanehi Memorial Hospital. Upon learning of this unusual sequence of events, local authorities, including the district administration, health department, and forest officials, launched an investigation.

DFO Ramanuj Tripathi, accompanied by a team, visited the hospital where Dubey received treatment. Dr Jawahar Lal, who treated Vikas at Ram Sanehi Memorial Hospital, confirmed to the DFO the snake bite incidents and stated that each time the victim sought treatment at the hospital, he received anti-venom injections as a precautionary measure.

Tripathi expressed plans to visit Dubey’s residence but found it locked upon arrival, as Dubey and his family were reportedly away. The team intends to return to conduct further inquiries and potentially rescue any snakes found on the premises. Further complicating the situation, Vikas’ uncle, Radhakrishna Dubey, disclosed that Vikas had undertaken a pilgrimage to Chitrakoot to seek remedies for ‘Kalsarp Dosh‘ from a ‘tantrik‘. The pilgrimage included visits to various religious sites, culminating in a planned visit to Mehandipur Balaji temple.

Meanwhile, Vikas Dubey’s family, distraught by the repeated snake bites and seeking government assistance, remains anxious about his safety and well-being. The investigation into this extraordinary series of events continues as authorities seek to uncover the truth behind Vikas Dubey’s claims of multiple snake bites within a short period.
