Kareena Kapoor Khan completed 25 years in the Hindi film industry and she made sure she did it in style.
At the Kareena Kapoor Film Festival hosted in her honour at PVR-Inox in Mumbai, the Buckingham Murders star stepped looking eternally ethereal, as couturier Amit Aggarwal addressed her, in a modern saree drape, designed by the couturier himself. Kareena also took to Instagram to share a series of images of the elegant and timeless drape she adorned.
The black and gold vintage Banarasi saree reimagined and restored beautifully honoured the six-yards of sheer elegance. The intricate micro-pleating on the off-shoulder ensemble and the long drape exuded royalty with a touch of Kareena style drama. Kareena’s saree drape is from Amit Aggarwal’s Antevorta collection. The line breathed a new lease of life into pre-loved Banarasi sarees and transformed these traditional textiles into timeless draping styles.

An epitome of grace and glamour, Kareena embraced the contemporary Indian silhouette, which was impeccably styled by celebrity fashion stylist Rhea Kapoor along with her team Sheeren, Sana Aver and Vanshika Makkar. Kareena makeup was done by celebrity makeup artist Mickey Contractor and her hair was styled by celebrity hair stylist Mitesh Rajani. Kareena further accentuated her style with statement pieces from Uncut Jewellery.
Rhea Kapoor took to Instagram to decode the versatile drape which was brought to life by Amit Aggarwal. Describing Kareena’s opulent ensemble, Rhea says,” Kareena Kapoor Khan wears a custom pre-owned vintage Banarasi. This Amit Aggarwal piece was made by restoring the textile through meticulous pleating and restoration practices without cutting the actual saree. It is reimagined as a modern saree drape to maintain the integrity of the original textile and its purpose.”
Known for celebrating Indian textiles and its crafts in his collections, Amit Aggarwal couture is a perfect blend of culture with a futuristic aura. The designer is known for reviving age-old Indian textiles and weaving art into it. Each silhouette Amit Aggarwal envisions complements India and its craft. In 2023, during the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre opening ceremony in Mumbai, global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore a vintage Banarasi brocade saree made using silver threads and gold electroplating on khadi silk. It was stylishly draped over and structured with a jewel-toned moulded body made of uniquely crafted material and paired with a signature sequin sheet holographic bustier.
