Srinagar: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was on Thursday re-opened for one-way traffic, three days after landslides caused by rainfall forced its closure.
"The highway has been reopened for light motor vehicles and today vehicles from Jammu will be allowed to move towards Srinagar," an official of the traffic department said.
The official said no vehicle will be allowed to move from opposite direction.
The 300-km highway, the only all-weather road link between Kashmir and the rest of the country, was closed for traffic on March 16 following heavy snowfall in Kashmir and Banihal on the other side of Jawahar Tunnel and rainfall in the rest of the state.
More than 2,000 vehicles, mostly carrying supplies for the Valley, had been stranded along the road due to the closure.
