Service providers stopped from copying Kolaveri

CHENNAI: Various cellphone and Internet service providers in the country, including BSNL, have been restrained by Madras High Court from in any manner, copying and communicating the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions of the ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ fame feature film, 3. The film, produced at a cost of `22 crore and directed by Aishwarya Dhanush, featuring Dhanush and Shruti Hassan, is scheduled to be released in theatres on Friday.Justice KBK Vasuki granted the injunction valid until further orders on Thursday, while passing interim orders on an application arising out of a civil suit from R K Productions of T Nagar, the producer of the film, represented by its authorised signatory L H Harish Ram. The case will be taken up on April 18.The interim prayer of the plaintiff was to restrain service providers and distributors in any manner infringing his copyright over the film by copying, recording, reproducing, allowing comcording, displaying, releasing, showing, uploading or downloading the film in any manner without proper licence from the plaintiff.
