Mumbai: A Saudi Arabian Airlines flight to Riyadh via Dubai made an emergency landing on Thursday minutes after taking off from the Sahara airport when the pilot noticed sparking in one of the four engines.
The Boeing 747 with 278 passengers on board had just taken off when the engine started to malfunction. The pilot informed the air traffic control (ATC), which directed him to dump fuel in the Arabian Sea.
All emergency landing procedures were put in place at the airport and the plane landed safely, officials said.
