Running for a cause

CHENNAI: The 13th edition of the Citizens Run this year witnessed approximately 7,000 participants on August 7 at 3.30pm. Runners from all age groups and from diverse socio-economic backgrounds took part in the annual event. Flagged off from the Lady Wellington College, the running track stretched across the Marina Beach for a distance of 6kms. The four beneficiary NGOs of the run were identified and chosen after due diligence by the Citizens Run Trustees. Some of the sponsors of the run were Blue Chip Companies, Ford, Nokia, Miot Hospitals and Golden Homes. The participants could also buy a T-shirt printed specially for the run for Rs 200. The evening concluded with dance performances by the students of John Brittos dance school.
