ERODE/SALEM: AIADMK has bagged majority of zonal presidents pos ts in Tamil Nadu. In the 60-member council in Erode, Congress has two members and DMK eight members. Of 11 independents, five joined AIADMK. Among the remaining independents, many supported AIADMK. In the zone I, Muniappan (AIADMK) was elected unopposed, while in Zone II, Kesavamurthy (AIADMK) won by securing 11 votes against P Ramachandran (DMK) ,who got just 4 votes.In zone III, the AIADMK won unopposed. But, in ward IV, a contest emerged between AIADMK’s Kanchana, and Punidhan. Among 15 councillors in the zone, AIADMK has 10, Congress and independents two each and DMK one. Meanwhile in Salem, AIADMK bagged all the four zonal chairman posts unopposed. The zonal chairmen were declared elected unopposed by the Commissioner G Lakshmi Priya. T Thiyagarajan was elected chairman for Soooramangalam zone council. K Madheswaran was elected for Hasthampatti, V Jayaprakash for Ammapet and M Shanmugam for Kondalampatti.
