Rs 76 crore for repairs in Adi Dravida hostels

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday allocated Rs 76.33 crore for carrying out repair and maintenance works in 1,059 Adi Dravida hostels across the State. In a statement, the CM said it had been brought to her notice that Adi Dravida hostels in the State were not maintained properly causing hardship to the students. Following this, she had ordered a thorough enquiry into the issue and found that of the 1,294 hostels, 1,059 were poorly maintained, lacking even basic amenities.To remedy this, she has allocated `76.33 crore to improve the infrastructure facilities at these hostels besides carrying out repair and maintenance works.
