BANGALORE: The sleuths of the Women and Narcotics Squad of Central Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested a drug peddler and have seized drugs worth Rs 13 lakh from him. The accused used to obtain drugs from abroad through couriers.According to the police, Mohammed Haneef (27), a resident of Motappanapalya in Indiranagar, was selling drugs near a pub in Indiranagar 100 Feet road on Saturday. On a tip off, the police swung into action and arrested Haneef. The police recovered, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LAD) and Methylenedioxy Amphetamine MDA) drugs, 6.8 grams of LAD blotter paper separated into 425 pieces worth Rs 1.5 lakh, 60 MDA capsules worth Rs 90,000 and 100 grams of MDA powder worth Rs 10.2 lakh from him. Two mobile phones, Rs 15,000 cash and ATM cards have also been recovered from him, the police said.“During the course of interrogation, it came to light that Haneef managed to get the drugs from one Peter, who is in Goa. The latter organised the smuggling of drugs from Netherlands through TNT couriers,” the police added.Gang Hacks Man to DeathBangalore: A 50-year-old man was hacked to death by a gang of four at Jigani on Bannerghatta Road on Sunday night. The deceased, Gopalakrishna, was standing near Jigani Circle when the four men came on two motorcycles and hacked him to death. Gopalakrishna, is said to have tried to fire at them with his licensed revolver but was unable to fend off the killers. The victim’s wife Nirmala, is the Jigani gram panchayat BJP member and political rivalry is said to be the motive behind the murder.
