A 25-year-old robber was allegedly beaten to death by people after he along with his two accomplices barged into a house in the Muradnagar area in Ghaziabad, police said on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Imran, a resident of Fariqnagar of Uttar Pradesh. The two accomplices--Wakil and Nizamuddin-- managed to flee the spot, they said. The incident took place late Sunday night in Suthari village when the robbers barged into the house of Rajendra Pandit.
"When Rajendra and his wife Sunita were sleeping, three armed robbers scaled the wall and entered the house. They then put a gun on Rajendra's head and asked for money and valuables," said a senior police official.
The official said Rajendra was assaulted by one of the robbers when he tried to resist them. Meanwhile, Sunita raised the alarm, following which their neighbours rushed to the house and managed to nab Imran.
Locals then brutally beat him up before handing him over to the police. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him 'brought dead'.shot
"Police have launched a manhunt to nab Imran's absconding accomplices," the official said. No arrest has been made in connection with the death so far, he added.
