Gamers can join the Corleones and solve problems in the family business with either vicious brutality or through tact and sheer cunning.

New Delhi: The Godfather has finally appeared in store shelves after nearly three years of being in the development stages.

No, it is not another sequel to the famed flick. We are talking about the videogame version of the movie that was released all across the US in March, 2006.

Now you can be your own mob boss but can the Corleones really deliver the goods this time?

Electronic Arts and Viacom Consumer Products, the developers of the game claim that this will be one of the most revered masterpieces.

Gamers need to join the Corleone family business, try and solve problems in the family business with either vicious brutality or through tact and sheer cunning.

If they succeed in earning the respect and trust of the family, they can move up the ranks and finally become Don.

The game is inspired by Mario Puzo's book, The Godfather and the feature film by the same name.

It is based in New York in the years 1945-55 and features non-linear action-adventure gameplay.

Murders, extortion, bank robberies and intimidation, The Godfather has it all. Coercion and negotiation are arts that muct be developed if you want to be the Don that all dons fear.

Gamers will need to take tough desicions at every stage and each decision will have lasting consequences so every click of the gaming console must be weighed with utmost care.

However, despite the fact that the game is a top notch version of The Godfather - with intricately designed characters, moves and weapons - movie director Francis Ford Coppola and Al Pacino have distanced themselves from the project.

However, smaller artistes such as Robert Duvall have lent their voice to the project.

The late Marlon Brando - who played the feared Don Corleone in the movie - also has a few lines in the game.

The company expects to rake in big bucks with the game and is already planning a sequel.

However, experts suggest that in order to justify a sequel, Electronic Arts should be able to sell at least three million copies of this version in the US.

What's your reaction?
