BANGALORE: After making councillors install rain water harvesting in their houses, Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy will now issue circulars to all councillors and BBMP officials for removal of tinted films from their vehicles.In the wake up of Supreme Court’s order which restricted the use of sun films on car windows, police will start penalising vehicle owners from May 20. The Mayor is insisting that BBMP officials remove sun films from their vehicles as well as BBMP’s. Interestingly, Mayor’s car windows have tinted films, which he is yet to remove. When asked about it, he said that there is no circular issued to him in this regard. However, he said that BBMP engineer who takes care of his vehicles, will remove it soon.Further, the Mayor said that on Monday, he is going to issue the circular to all the councillors irrespective of political parties and ask them to remove the sun films as soon as possible.The Deputy Mayor is aware of the Supreme Court order and said he will remove the tinted films from his vehicle soon.BBMP Commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda said, “It is a known fact. In spite of that, if they do not remove sun films from their vehicles, I will ask traffic police to do their duty,” he said.
