Ladakh: The third edition of Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF) kicked off on June 27. The ongoing film festival not only offers an interesting mix of international and Indian films, but also saw the participation of several Bollywood stars on Day 1.
Besides Govind Nihalani, who heads the jury of the festival, actors Deepti Naval, Rajat Kapoor and Partho Gupte, filmmakers Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Amole Gupte were also present.
While addressing the gathering here in Leh, Mehra said, "I had the chance to take my film 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' to Europe, US and other places in India. But something felt right and I opted for this place. In the years to come the festival will grow and Ladakh will emerge as an important destination in out cinema."
Mehra who also screened his project 'Bollywood: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told' was appreciated and lauded by the viewers.
While speaking to the viewers he explained the thought behind making the film. "I made this film in a very short time. It was shown at Cannes, and since then it has been traveling across Europe. I hope you like the first Indian and Asian premiere of the film," he said earnestly.
Deepti Naval spoke to the media about the rapport she shared with late actor Farooq Sheikh. She stated that building a good bond between co-stars isn't easy, but when it came to Farooq, it was. The actress has done six films and two plays with the late actor.
