Protest turns violent in Kannur

KANNUR: The demonstration organised by the SFI in protest against the police action and firing on the agitating students in Kozhikode turned violent here on Tuesday.The Kannur Traffic Police Station and the forensic lab were stoned by violent SFI activists who were returning after participating in the road-blockade stir. The windows of the traffic station were damaged in the stone-throwing. The agitated groups of SFI workers also pelted stones at the residences of the District Collector, DIG and the SP causing damage to the windowpanes. A jeep which belonged to the municipality was destroyed by the protesters. A KSRTC bus also was stoned by them. The SFI workers who turned their ire on mediapersons later roughed up cameramen of Indiavision and Reporter channels.
