MALKANGIRI: Hundreds of tribal Maoist supporters and sympathisers giving the security persons a slip, organised meetings and cultural programmes inside the forests on Malkangiri along the Andhra and Chhattisgarh borders on Wednesday. The functions were organised on the last day of the PLGA Week. More than 1,000 tribal Maoist supporters assembled at weekly ‘haat’ at Munimput, on the other side of Balimela reservoir in Chitrakonda on Wednesday. Throwing a challenge at the men in uniform engaged in a combing operation, the members of Jana Natya Mandali, cultural wing of the Maoists, staged the programmes. Top Maoist leader Ganesh, who masterminded the abduction of former Malkangiri Collector R.Vineel Krishna in February this year, reiterated at the meeting that the Government had failed to fulfill any of the major demands raised for the release of the of the IAS official.
