Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal approved Rs 13.50 crore for development projects at Hussainiwala village in Ferozepur district to showcase rich legacy of martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, and other unsung heroes of national freedom struggle.
The district administration Ferozepur has sent a proposal in this regard, a spokesperson for the Chief Minister Office said.
Badal gave his nod to the proposal by immediately releasing a sum of Rs 2 crore for light and sound programme at Hussainiwala and Rs 1 crore to the agency entrusted with the task of making documentary and drama on the life and times of these martyrs, the spokesperson said.
Earlier on March 23, a delegation comprising BJP workers, prominent residents of Ferozepur led by state unit President of BJP Kamal Sharma had met Badal, during his visit to Hussainiwala, and raised these issues.
Of the Rs 13.50 crore, Rs 5.50 crore has been earmarked for the light and sound programme plus renovation of the historic martyrs? memorial, the spokesperson said.
A sum of Rs 2 crore for renovation of auditorium, Rs 1 crore for the construction of a 4.22 Km road from 'Samadhis' to village Gatti Rajoke, and Rs 5 crore for the construction of bridge over river Sutlej near village Hajara Singh Wala has been sanctioned, he furter said.
Famous memorial at Hussainiwala village marks the location where Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were cremated on March 23, 1931 on the banks of the Sutlej river.
