New Delhi: The parliamentary panel on defence has summoned the three service chiefs to get a status report on the preparedness of the country for a battle. All three defence chiefs will depose before the committee on the April 20.
On Monday, the parliamentary panel questioned the Defence Secretary on the issue of the battle readiness of the forces.
This came after Member of Parliament Naresh Gujral raised CNN-IBN story on the battle-preparedness of the country.
The question raised was how quickly would the situation be remedied and have provisions been made in the demand for grants to bring it up adequately.
The committee was, meanwhile, reassured that the provision was there and the critical ammunition, which is below the inventory levels, is being acquired expeditiously.
Meanwhile, BEML Chairman and Managing Director VRS Natarajan was also questioned by the panel in conenction with the Tatra truck deal.
Vigilance and finance officials of BEML were questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as well.
