SALEM : Acting on complaints over the functioning of the office of the Controller of Examinations, Periyar University (PU), the Vice Chancellor K Muthuchelian has appointed a three-member committee to conduct a probe. According to university sources the VC conducted a surprise review in the office of the Controller of Examinations on Thursday and checked every section. He found out that marksheets were being prepared without prior clearance from the VC. In a swift decision, he formed a committee comprising Syndicate members, Moorthy, Periyasamy and Rajavel, to look into the irregularities. After taking over as V-C of Periyar University a year ago, Dr Muthuchelian re-organised the examination department with three controllers for different courses.
