BHUBANESWAR: Taking a cue from Kerala, the Tourism Department is out to market monsoon aggressively. The old rhyme 'Rain, rain go away' is no longer the tourism mantra in Orissa. In fact, it is quite the contrary tourists are wooed to romance the rain and experience the magic of the season.
Currently, monsoon is no more considered a deterrent by tourists thanks to the consistent efforts of the Tourism Department which has successfully promoted the State as a roundtheyear destination. The low occupancy rate during the offseason, from June to September, is a thing of the past. Now the effort is to increase the influx of tourists with strategic marketing initiatives.
