One terrorist killed in an encounter with security forces in Srinagar

Srinagar: One terrorist was gunned by the security forces in a fierce gun battle at Zakura locality near Hazratbal in Srinagar on Monday evening.

The security forces and the state police had surrounded the area following reports that two to three militants were hiding inside a house.

As security forces came closer to the suspected house, the militants fired upon the security forces after which a gunfight broke out. One terrorist killed in the gun battle and security forces are suspecting that more terrorists are hiding inside a house.

The exact identity of the slain suspected Pakistani militant is yet to be established," police sources said.

Till reports last came in, heavy firing was on between the terrorists and the security forces and entire area was cordoned off due to security reasons.
