A recent video that has now gone viral on social media shows a man dressed as ‘Yamaraja’ conducting a long jump competition on a pothole-ridden road in Karnataka’s Udupi dsistrict.
In the video, the man can be seen dressed in the traditional ‘Yamaraja’ attire measuring the long jumps made by men dressed up in the attire of ghosts. Along with ‘Yamaraja’, who is known as the God of Death was another man dressed up as ‘Chitragupta’, the Hindu deity who serves as the registrar of the dead.

The video was shot in the Adi Udupi-Malpe road, which connects Udupi to the famous Malpe Beach. This road can be seen filled with potholes.
According to an NDTV report, this was a part of a unique protest that was staged in order to draw the attention of the authorities towards the problems that were faced by the people travelling every day, due to potholes on the road.
A similar protest was earlier staged by a woman in Hyderabad, who in a pothole filled with muddy water in order to highlight the poor condition of roads in the city.
