Ola Share Takes Green Pledge With Drive To Plant 10,000 Saplings
As per the latest statistics released by the company, Ola Shuttle and Ola Share helped keep 26.74 lakh vehicles off the road in Delhi NCR, since their launch about 6 months ago.

As climate change takes centre stage in politics and public discourse, various enterprises joined the race this World Environment Day to make cities more breathable.

Ola, a popular mobile app for transportation, celebrated the day on June 5 by planting 10,000 saplings in different areas of Gurugram. The drive builds on Ola's efforts to curb emissions with the launch of Ola Share.

Each one of us needs the support of 7 to 8 trees a year to breathe easy. Such initiatives, together with many more taken up at the central and state government level, go a long way to spread awareness.

Talking about the initiative TL Satyaprakash, Deputy Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Gurugram said, "Working towards attaining a pollution free, green and clean environment is among one of the top priorities for the government. Initiatives like these from a responsible corporate citizen like Ola, help create much needed awareness around environmental protection."

Another environment-friendly initiative by the company, Ola Shuttle, has been getting good traction too. As per the latest statistics released by the company, Ola Shuttle and Ola Share helped keep 26.74 lakh vehicles off the road in Delhi NCR, since their launch about 6 months ago. Apart from lowering the number of cars hitting the road, Ola Share and Ola Shuttle also helped bring down CO2 emission levels by 52.7 lakh kilograms as well as saving 21.96 lakh litres of fuel because of users opting for shared rides on the Ola platform across the city.

"This activity is aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of conserving environment. With the goal of creating mobility for a billion Indians, Ola is committed to provide smart and environment friendly commuting solutions for users," Deep Singh, Business Head, North, Ola said.

Launched in October 2015 in Bangalore, Ola Share is also present in Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi-NCR.

One step at a time, the transport aggregator has seen healthy adoption of Ola Share's pocket-friendly fares as commuters can save up to 50% on the fare. The possibility of booking up to 2 seats per booking makes it an attractive deal for corporate hub commuters. The option of choosing to travel within closed groups addresses safety issues that many commuters have raised.

Shared Mobility can go a long way in contributing towards de-congestion and reduced pollution in Delhi NCR. According to Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty and her team, the burgeoning shared mobility market could be worth $2.6 trillion by 2030.
