There are no takers for 550 engineering seats under Centac that remained vacant after the admission process ended.
A total of 3,555 B Tech seats were available for students of two government and 13 self- financing engineering colleges to be sponsored through Centac in the current year.
However, four seats in Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Institute of Technology (PKIT), a government engineering college at Karaikal, and 546 seats in 11 self-financing colleges went abegging. Conversely, all the seats in Pondicherry Engineering College, the two self financing colleges of Srimanakula Vinayagar Engineering College and Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology, were filled up.
The four seats vacant in PKIT were in Information Technology. There are three vacancies in Rajiv Gandhi EC, 34 in Christ EC, two in Ganesh EC, 17 in Alpha EC, five in Acharaya EC, two in SJ Paul EC , 41 in Prist , 163 in Regency Institute of Technilogy, Yanam. According to Centac sources even those who failed and cleared the supplementary examination also got admission into B Tech courses through Centac. The reason for the vacancies was that there were more seats than required.
