The region around Kedarnath was the worst affected during the flash floods and landslides.

Dehradun: Even though more than one month has passed since flash floods and landslides devastated several towns and villages in Uttarakhand, the state is still to recover fully. The region around Kedarnath was the worst affected with the holy town along with Gaurikund and Rambada completely destroyed.

While the state government and other agencies are working to bring normalcy to the region, there in no clarity on when will Kedarnath be opened again for pilgrim and when the worship in the temple start.

Kedarnath still remains cut off from rest of the state as the roads are yet to be repaired. While the Army is working to restore road connectivity, the debris in the holy town is yet to be removed. Almost the entire town is covered under four feet of debris that came with the raging Mandakini river.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said talks are on with the Kedarnath temple committee and some of its members will be sent to the temple to make a list of the belongings and items. After the list is prepared the government will ensure that the temple is cleaned and give the go ahead to start the worship.

The state government says a team of 60 people comprising of NDRF and police is present in Kedarnath and dead bodies are still being recovered. The Army is trying to open a road to Kedarnath from Rambara but an 80-feet long landslide is proving to be major obstacle.
