MADURAI: Tamil Nadu was free from naxalite menace and there was no need for any searches agaisnt the ultras in the state, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General K Vijay Kumar said today.There was no naxalite presence in Tamil Nadu and there was no need for search operations (by CRPF), he said replying to questions from reporters here.Vijay Kumar, who had held key positions in the state police force in the past, said CRPF had sought additional 100 acres for its training centre coming up at Idayapatti near Tirumogur in Madurai District.The centre would have all facilities including residential quarters for the officials. Initially the training centre would come up on 50 acres. The District administration had agreed to consider providing 100 more acres, he said.He said CRPF had 218 battalions comprising three lakh personnel and states had been provided CRPF personnel according to their requirement.He also visited the site near the Ordnance Factory near Tiruchirappalli, about 120 km from here, where another training centre had been proposed.
