SANGAREDDY: An unidentified woman abducted a three-day-old infant from the government mother-child centre in Siddipet on Saturday.According to the police and locals, D Rajavva, a native of Mustabad in Karimnagar district, has been living with her husband, Kanakaiah, at Kalvakuntla in Siddipet for the last three months.Following labour pains on Thursday, she was admitted to primary health centre where she gave birth to a boy. On Saturday, the boy’s grandmother, Nagavva, took the baby for a sun bath when one 60-year-old woman, who had stayed with them all through Friday night stating she was not able to find her relatives, reached her and began enquiring if she had tiffin and Nagavva replied she did not.Soon the 60-year-old woman gave a `20 currency note to Nagavva and asked her to fetch two plates of idli. Later, she took the baby into her hands and told Nagavva that she would take care of him till she returned.On failing to find the woman and the baby after returning with the tiffin, Nagavva became anxious and began a frantic search.She rushed to see if the baby was with his mother but on not finding the boy there as well, Rajavva’s relatives lodged a complaint with the town police.
