BANGALORE: Thousands continue to pour into Freedom Park as a sign of support towards the Anna Hazare movement.The crowd seems to be increasing every day with the total registered visitors at the Park touching 25,000 on Wednesday, according to one of the volunteers at Freedom Park.Buses filled with college students are flocking the venue and those going on fast in Bangalore is also on the increase.According to Dr Santhosh, who is looking after the health of the volunteers on fast, about 15 new people are joining the fast daily.When enquired about the health conditions of the protestors, he added, “Yesterday we sent blood samples of all those who are on fast for the past nine days to various laboratories.According to reports received, high levels of ketone - which can even affect the kidneys - were found.” He has been advising the protestors to increase their fluid intake.On Tuesday, Raju, 25, from Mandya, who has been on fast since August 16, fainted and was rushed to hospital.The views of another protestor, Rama Kumara, an agriculturist from Kebbehalli in Kanakapura taluk, sums up the mood, “I will go on fasting till they pass the Jan Lokpal Bill.I am even ready to give my life for this movement.” His views are similar to that of Neelam Krishna, a social activist who says: “I am least bothered about my family.My first priority is the Jan Lokpal Bill.” GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL ON FAST IN SUPPORT OF ANNAThis woman is on a fast with a differenceExpressing her solidarity with anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, a woman taluk official of Tumkur has been on a fast for the past eight days.During this period she has been consuming only lime juice, while at the same time attending work - without leave.Says Indiramma, wife of district government employees’ association president G M Sannamuddaiah, who has been on fast: “I have been on fast on my own to support Anna Hazare who has been waging a tireless fight against corruptionI am not seeking any publicity for this as I know there must be many others like me.”Fasting is not new to this pugnacious woman.She says that she has earlier fasted for 18 days at a stretch.A Gandhian G V V Shastri, who eats only on fresh fruits and vegetables and not cooked food, has been her guide.Indiramma says that even after eight days of fasting, she has not felt any illness, save for a weight loss of about 5 kg.
