KOCHI: The Jeevan Raksha Charity and Service Society has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy demanding the immediate appointment of doctors to the Oncology wing of the Ernakulam General Hospital. In the request the Society pointed out it was three months ago that two doctors here were transferred and no replacements were made thereafter. For the past five years the Jeevan Raksha Charity and Service Society has been issuing medicines worth Rs 25,000 every month to the Oncology Department at the General Hospital. The service has been extended to Kottayam and Alappuzha Medical Colleges. The body pointed out that the patients are at the receiving end owing to lack of sufficient doctors. The memorandum was also sent to Works Minister Ebrahim Kunju, Justice V R Krishna Iyer, MLAs Hibi Eden, Benny Behanan, Dominic Presentation, Ernakulam Collector Sheik Pareeth and the District Medical Officer.
