New Delhi: Following up on the launch of the budget Moto G and the mid-range Moto X in India, Motorola has unveiled its entry-level smartphone the Moto E at a price of Rs 6,999 in India. The Moto E, as with the Moto G and Moto X, will also be available exclusively via online retailer Flipkart in India.

After winding up much of its India operations in June 2012, Motorola made a comeback with the Moto G in February this year, followed by the Moto X in March. Motorola says the Moto G is the best-selling smartphone in Motorola's history.

With the Moto E, Motorola lowers its price bar even further and the phone is expected to give stiff competition to the Indian brands that thrive in the budget Android smartphone segment. Recently HTC has also launched the Desire 210 in India at Rs 8,700.

The Moto E has a qHD 4.3 inch display (960x540 pixels at 256 ppi) and a curved back. It is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 A7), 1GB RAM, Android KitKat 4.4 with guaranteed update to next Android version. The phone comes with a 1980mAh battery. The device has an Adreno 302 400 MHz single core graphics card.

The Moto E model launched in India is a dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) phone with a 5 megapixel primary camera. The Moto E doesn't have a front camera. The internal memory is a not-so-impressive 4GB (in line with what the competition in the price range has on offer) but that is expandable via microSD card up 32 GB. The phone includes an FM tuner. The phone is also water resistant and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for the screen and has an anti-smudge coat.

The Moto E targets feature phone users and marketing marketing campaign in the run up to the launch shows old feature phones being dumped. Motorola focusing both on affordability and robustness. A tagline for the Moto E says, "Made to last. Priced for all." India is the first market in which the Moto E will go on sale and will be available on Flipkart from Wednesday, May 14.

Motorola is also highlighting the quick Android updates that its phones get. According to the company 91 per cent of Moto X and 88 per cent of Moto G phones run Android KitKat against an average of only 8 per cent of all Android devices.

This Moto E comes with the Motorola Migrate function that makes it easier to switch phones and you can wirelessly transfer your content to the Moto E from your old phone.####
