BANGALORE: Sampoorn Santhe 2011, the 10-day-long monsoon extravaganza, will be inaugurated on June 17 at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. It is an initiative of Sampoorn in bringing ethnic arts and crafts to the neighbourhood of urbanites. These handicrafts are both unique and intimate to the artisan community and have been carefully chosen to offer urbanites a fine blend of products that symbolises the richness of Indian art but produced by using contemporary technology and design.Kailash Sudarshan of Sampoorn said, " The highlight of monsoon santhe is the interactive platform being offered to enable artisans and the customers to interact and customise products suiting their taste and preferences. The exhibition will witness participation of 145 artisan households and 25 NGOs.” Sampoorn’s secretary Shalini Sudarshan said, “Sampoorn has aimed at bringing as many artistes as possible from all over India under one roof through this exhibition. Their aim is to keep the middlemen away and create a direct market for the artisans. Bangalore has always welcomed art and new talents. Patrons of art will make this exhibition a grand success. Sampoorn has created a platform for interaction between the producers and the consumers, and provides an opportunity to decide on future products depending on the consumers' needs.” “This santhe will offer a variety of articrafts to our customers. Since hundreds of artists are participating the scope for selection is also wide. The artists can directly interact with customers,” said Kailash Sudarshan. The exhibition will be on till June 26, from 10 am - 7.30 pm.
