KANCHEEPURAM: The Backward Castes Minister T K M Chinnaya on Wednesday exhorted the  district administration not to show any sympathy to sand thieves, and directed the police department to deal with them sternly even by invoking the Goondas Act.In his first official meeting that was attended by all the nine elected AIADMK MLAs from the district, the District Collector Sivashanmugaraja, SP S Manoharan, and RTO Suresh, many long-standing issues in the constituencies were discussed.One of the prime highlights of the discussions was the plight of about 200 families living in the sea-eroded part pf Chuneri Kuppam falling under Nemili Village Panchayat in the Tiruporur Assembly constituency. MLA K Manoharan argued in favour of alternative sites to be given to the people as rehabilitation measure.Other issues like shortage of drinking water and irregularities in patta distribution were also discussed.On marriage assistance, the Minister urged the Collector to see to it that the amount reaches the beneficiaries on time. He also wanted the administration to deal firmly with the problem of old-age pension. He said the amount should reach all eligible persons.
