CHENNAI: At a book launch, usually, the matter of discussion will be the book or the issues that it closely deals with. But that was not the case on Thursday at the release of 5 Engaging Ways by Ganesh Chella. The author, a panel of three expert guests and the audiences together discussed issues and sought solutions.Ganesh is the founder of totus consulting, a human resource consulting firm, and in his first book, he talks about socio-cultural shifts in the corporate world and how they might turn counter-productive for organisations. He also introduced the audience to his five-layer model, that he used to address the issues. The experts heaped praises on the author for having come up with a one-of its-kind book that explores organisations' blind eye to their employees’ personal problems, which in turn, will affect their productivity. "Ganesh has not only researched and discussed the problems, but has given solutions about how to go about in dealing with them. That's one way in which this book stands out," said Kimberly Owens, president of Phoenix Performance Group. "Within five days after the book was released in Mumbai, the publisher decided to go for its second print and that speaks for its success," said Pradipta K Mahapatra, chairman of CFI ltd. "A book should not be used for reference, but it should stimulate the mind of a reader. It should also be an easy read. The book has qualified for both," said Vijay Nagaswami, a marital therapist. The author said that his case studies on counselling and community initiatives in companies such as Wipro and TCS had brought out some of the ways in which employees suffered in their personal lives, not knowing how to deal with the corresponding changes on their professional sides. Psychological suffering of people who have travelled far for work, treatment of pregnant women at the office, pressures at different levels of workforce and more such issues were discussed. An organisation should change the way it looks at its employees was the message that resonated at the end of the release function. .
