Kochi: In a major air scare, a Jet Airways flight flying from Doha on August 8 did six go-arounds over Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram airports as the pilot could not sight runway because of poor visibility.
The Kochi-bound flight 9W555, with 152 passengers on board, landed safely albeit with 270 litres of fuel when it should have been holding 3500 litres.
"The plane could have dropped like a stone if it were on full power" said a DGCA official.
The plane landed with the pilot citing fuel emergency ahead of landing at the Trivandrum International Airport.
The two pilots have reportedly been suspended and the DGCA will be reviewing the fuel uplift policy of Jet Airways.
