In an statement issued here on Wednesday Shetty urged doctors not to cause trouble to citizens.
On June 2, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan held discussions with Maharashtra State Gazetted Medical Officers Organisation officials regarding their demands, but they chose to go on strike within a month from Tuesday.

"I appeal to them to call off their agitation and resume duty," he said.
Primary health care centres and district hospitals have been affected due to the strike.
