Mumbai: After 13 people died in the Malvani area of Mumbai on Thursday after consuming spurious liquor, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a probe.
The Chief Minister has asked the police to submit a report in 2 days. The case has been transferred to the Mumbai crime branch which has detained one person who allegedly sold the liquor. 4 people continue to be critical. They are currently on ventilator support.
On Wedneseday, around 25 people were consuming liquor at a shop in Malwani. Next morning, all fell sick and by evening it was clear they had consumed contaminated liquor. Apart from the 13 that died 11 others had to be hospitalized.
Once the case was reported, Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria immediately handed it over to the Mumbai Crime Branch and by night, one person was arrested. This is the same person who sold the liquor but the source of the liquor isn't clear right now.
