Letter Threatens Serial Blasts in Jammu, Police Beef up Security

Jammu: Police has intensified security after it received a letter threatening to trigger serial bomb explosions in Jammu. A case has been registered a case in this regard.

"An FIR 187/16 under section 153-B (1), 505-1 (B) registered at Police Station Gandhinagar on the receipt of letter threatening bomb blasts at Amar Ujala office," a police officer said.

In view of the threat, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu region, Danish Rana chaired a high-level meeting of police officers and other security agencies and directed District Police chief to review the security of vital installations like religious places, minority pockets, crowded places and Police and Para Military Force (PMF) establishments including a close watch on social media activities.

Rana asked officers to work in close coordination with each other.

He asked the Intelligence Agencies, police and SFs officers to step up vigil and security in the district to check any attempt of infiltration, movement of anti-national elements and forestall any plan of terrorists.

A detailed review of the prevailing security scenario, throughout Jammu zone was taken at the meeting.

The intelligence agencies also give their assessment about the prevailing situation particularly in Chenab Valley and Rajouri-Poonch district.
