RJD chief Lalu Prasad appeared in a CBI court in Ranchi to record his statement in connection with two cases of the multi-million-rupee fodder scam.

Appearing before Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Judge AK Rai, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief recorded his statement in one case related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 3.97 crore from Dumka treasury and another concerning fraudulent withdrawal of Rs.97 lakh from Deoghar treasury.

"I have full faith in the courts. I have already replied to all questions asked me by the CBI," he told reporters afterwards.

Convicted and sentenced to five years imprisonment last year in a fodder scam case relating to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs.38 crore from Chaibasa treasury, Lalu Prasad is presently out on bail.

The former railway minister is accused in three other cases.

The multi-million-rupee fodder scam case surfaced in early 1990s when Lalu was chief minister of undivided Bihar. After Jharkhand was carved out from Bihar in 2000, 54 fodder scam cases were transferred to the new state.
