BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Monday granted conditional bail to former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, an accused in the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board scam, for three months on medical grounds. While allowing Katta to visit London for medical treatment after obtaining the necessary permission from the special court, Justice B V Pinto directed Katta to surrender to the Lokayukta Police on the 91st day of his release. The court has also directed Katta to furnish bonds and sureties worth Rs 5 lakh each to obtain the bail, besides asking Katta to keep the special court and the Lokayukta Superintendent of Police informed about his whereabouts every week. It may be recalled that Katta had filed a bail application after he was taken to judicial custody on August 9. He has been charged with violating various rules while acquiring land for ITASKA Software.
