Karachi: Satish Anand, a prominent Pakistani filmmaker and Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla’s uncle, may have been murdered after his abduction on Monday, authorities fear.
The DNA newspaper of Mumbai reports the Karachi police suspect Anand, who was kidnapped at gun point, might have been killed as no ransom call has been received as yet. Anand had hosted Chawla twice during her trips to Karachi.
Reuters reports Anand, 57, a member of Pakistan's small Hindu community, runs a production house called Eveready Pictures. He was abducted on his way to his home in Karachi's posh Clifton neighbourhood.
Police had no idea who had kidnapped him or why. Anand's driver told police two men stopped their car and one of them gave him an injection and he lost consciousness. The driver said when he awoke, Anand was missing, police said.
Anand is a famous figure in Pakistan's show business world and recently distributed the hit Hindi film Race.
