Los Angeles: Actor Johnny Depp is set to star in a biopic of classic children's author and illustartor Dr Seuss.
Depp is also producing the film, which is being developed by Illumination Entertainment and Infinitum Nihil while the Universal Pictures will distribute.
'In Treatment' writer Keith Bunin will write the screenplay, the Hollywood Reporter said.
The actor is known for his unusual movie outings like W the Mad Hatter, Peter Pan author J M Barrie and Willy Wonka and is perfect to play Seuss.
One of the most popular works of all time, Suess' books have sold more than 200 million copies worldwide.
Suess, real name Theodor Geisel, was born in 1904 and spent much of his childhood in Springfield, Massachusetts before going to college at Dartmouth. Throughout his early years, he drew advertising and comic strips, then political cartoons during World War II. By 1950, Geisel was publishing his most notable books that became worldwide classics. He died of throat cancer in 1991 some of
his famous books are 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' and 'The Cat in the Hat'.
